Today's websites fall neatly into one of two broad categories, they are either static or dynamic. At NSD Web our aim is to deliver a website which meets the needs of your business. Web design and web development are two very different skills. That's why, prior to any new work commencing, our designer and developer will be happy to meet with you and discuss your own website ideas and requirements. Read more >>
A static website is one where the content is seldom changed, sometimes referred to as a brochure website. The content is coded into the pages at the time it is created, and each person who views the website sees exactly the same content. Typically a static website is considerably less costly to develop, but has its limitations.
When you decide it's time to update the content, you will most likely require someone with coding knowledge to make those changes for you.
A dynamic website typically incorporates a database, content management system [CMS] and server-side programming. Some of the website content will be fixed, however many areas may be dynamic.
Users will typically see different content, depending on where they click. A used car or estate agent's website are good examples. The actual detail of the car or house is extracted from the database and integrated into the website page, BEFORE being displayed to the user.
The major website browsers in use today are from Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari, Opera and Internet Explorer. Web browsers keep pace with the changing functionality of the internet, and most current versions comply with W3C web standards - however there can be some display differences, especially between 'Windows' and 'Mac' users. Our aim when developing your website is to comply with the current standards as closely as possible, without impacting either type of user.
Server-side programming combined with an SQL database enables development of powerful online soutions, delivering dynamic content to your customers.Read more >>
The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) develops interoperable technologies to lead the Web to its full potential. Two examples of these technologies are xhtml and css. At NSD Web, we use both of these technologies when developing websites, ensuring compliance standards whenever possible.
Ensuring your website code is standards compliant means that users with disabilities or impairments are much more likely to be able to use your site effectively. Your site is also more likely to display consistently in most current web browsers.
